In this Bachelor’s programme, you learn how you can actively stay abreast of the latest technological trends, and how to translate these into practically usable applications for your own organisation. This focus on innovation reappears in each module and distinguishes Avans+’s Bachelor Software Engineer from other similar programmes. We assume you have experience in software development, and that with this experience, you can join the third year. Should this not be the case, we determine together with you how you can get to the required level as quickly as possible. After this, you specialise further in the Software Developer direction.

You are an ambitious professional with experience in software development. You are a programmer or maybe a full stack developer. Your role demands that you capably translate technological trends into usable applications, taking full account of the data involved and proper security. Besides this, you want to develop further in your career. You work and think at university level and really want to gain the associated degree.
Inflow to Software Engineer programme
The programme is also suitable for entry part way through. You go through the entire programme in order to become a qualified software engineer.
Each module consists of 10 weeks with a tuition day every other week (one afternoon and one evening). The total study load is around 15 hours per week. During the module, you work on a specific assignment (individually or in a group), which is assessed at the end of the module.

You start the study programme with the intake programme. After successful completion of the intake programme in which it is determined which study year you can join, you start on the Cybersecurity specialisation, of which each study year has a study load of 60 EC.
Each study year comprises four blocks of 10 weeks. In this you have five two-weekly college attendances, in the last of which there is the exam. During the entire block, you can consult the block lecturers if you have questions. The last six months of the bachelor’s programme is focused on your graduation. During this time, you only have personal meetings with your supervisors.
The average study load is 10 to 15 hours per week, as well as the tuition days. You use these hours for self-study, to prepare for the meetings, and to work on assignments.

Below you will find an overview of the costs of the Bachelor Software Engineer programme:
Programme fees: € 15.300,-.
Arrangement charges: € 1.000,-.
Books: approx. €200 per year. You purchase these yourself.
It is possible to pay the Bachelor Software Engineering programme fees in instalments by direct debit. This can be in two annual instalments of €7,800.00 or 20 monthly instalments of €800.00. Other costs are debited with the first instalment.
All sums stated exclude VAT. Programme fees are exempt from VAT. All other costs incur VAT at 9%.
The exact costs to you depend on the details of your course. You will receive an invoice before this IT programme starts. You can pay for this programme in monthly or yearly instalments.
Life-long Learning Credit
Students in this Bachelor Software Engineer programme may come into consideration for a Life-long Learning Credit. This means that you can receive a loan from the government to take the programme, if you meet the conditions.

Subsidy
Based on this programme, your employer could come into consideration for Subsidy of Practical Learning (SPL). This is a subsidy of up to €2,700 per person per year for the duration of the arrangement. Please see the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RvO) website for more information.
Once you have gained the required number of ECs, you receive a recognised Bachelor’s degree from Avans+. The Bachelor Software Engineer is accredited by the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO).
After completion of the Bachelor Software Developer, you have a degree. Your position on the labour market has thus become much stronger. Besides this, you have gained thorough insight into new trends and technology, and you can translate this practically into actual usable applications for your organisation. In this way, you make a demonstrable contribution to the optimisation of the company’s operations and the realisation of its objectives. In short, you are even more valuable to your organisation.
